Podcast to the Paranormal

Everyone is good at something. I use this phrase very frequently—every time I recognize another one of my many bad habits. One thing that I am really good at is being way behind everyone else when it comes to finding cool stuff. I start off by thinking I have discovered something new—only to find out that millions of other people have known about them for a very, VERY long time.
My expertise in discovering things that have already been discovered continues with the world of podcasts. It has only been a few months since I decided to delve into the wonderful world of podcasts—something others have been doing for years. My original reasoning was to find content from other writers of an instructional nature that would help me write better stories. I delved in again when I started working on a new audio drama project (shhhhhh....no details yet!) because I had no idea what an audio drama even was.
Along the way I found a few podcasts that sparked my interest from an entertainment standpoint, but just a few days ago I stumbled across a gem that just so happened to be created right here in my home town of Fort Wayne, Indiana. For the past few days I've been listening to the antics of Heather and Taren, the MC's of the Ford Weird Podcast. I've enjoyed discussions of Fort Wayne's rich haunted history and local legends, stories of children claiming to have been reincarnated and remember their past lives that will make the hair on the back of your neck stand on end, and the weirdness doesn't stop there. Even better, I actually found something that hasn't been around for years and years! The ladies of Fort Weird just started broadcasting their foray into the unusual in January of 2019.
What makes this podcast special? Well, obviously if you have any interest in all things otherworldly, you will enjoy the topics they choose to speak about. They aren't just telling other people stories—they are giving their own interpretation of things, theorizing about what could be truth and what others might have gotten wrong. But my absolute favorite thing about the show is the atmosphere. You feel like you are sitting in their living room having a conversation with them. They laugh a lot, they get interrupted by family members, there is a loud beeping noise that apparently comes from the garage and no one knows how to get rid of. I literally laughed out loud when they finally acknowledged it. I thought maybe it was in my head!
They don't edit out the real life events that happen during their podcast recordings. It doesn't sound like it was recorded in some fancy studio somewhere, funded by a ton of sponsors. You can tell they do this because they love doing it! They are real people, having a fantastic (listen to episode 5...) time talking about weird crap that is interesting to them. I can't wait to continue listening to their adventures. If you are in need of an escape, something to listen to while driving on a long commute, I would strongly recommend giving them a try. You don't have to be from Fort Wayne to find yourself drawn into the stories they tell.
